If the Drill Sergeant army Candidate is overweight, action must be taken to ensure he/she is within compliance with AR 600-9, prior to class start date. If Drill Sergeant Candidate is separated from active duty or barred from reenlistment for overweight status please notify this headquarters immediately.

A Drill Sergeant Candidate may possess certain medical conditions that would give him/her a lower PULHES rating than the minimum of 111221. Possessing a lower rating does not necessarily preclude a Soldier from performing duties as a DS. Prospective Drill Sergeant Candidates that possess a lower PULHES rating than the minimum will be medically evaluated to make the determination if their condition would hinder their abilities to perform as a DS.

BIOGRAPHY DAVID ROBERT BOONE, 1SG, USA: DOC

First Sergeant Boone deployed in support of Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm and in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom IV. He has also served in a myriad of duty positions including Pershing Missile Crewmember, Administrative Specialist, Executive Administrative Assistant, Squad Leader, Drill Sergeant, Senior Drill Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Brigade S-1 NCOIC, Enlisted Personnel Management Directorate NCOIC for Military Transition Teams (MiTT) at Human Resources Command, and now culminating as the First Sergeant for the National Defense University.

First Sergeant Boone’s military education includes the Combat Lifesaver Course, Primary Leadership Development Course (PLDC), Basic Noncommissioned Officer’s Course (BNCOC), Drill Sergeant School, Air Assault School, Airborne School, Jumpmaster School, and the Advanced Noncommissioned Officer’s Course (ANCOC). He has completed three years of college and is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Human Resource Management from the University of Maryland University College.

He attended Field Artillery, One Stop Unit Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. His military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Field Artillery Basic and Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, Drill Sergeant School, First Sergeant Course, Air Assault School, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy and numerous of other courses.

His civilian education consists of an Associates Degree in General Studies from Central Texas College, a Certification in Information Systems Management from Western New Mexico University and a Bachelors of Science Degree in E-Business from University of Phoenix. His stateside assignments include tours at Fort Polk, Louisiana, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and Fort Lewis, Washington. His overseas tours include Germany, South Korea, Hawaii, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq.

The Army refocused on its core values. Following more than a year of self-examination in the wake of several sexual-harassment scandals, the Army initiated the Character Development XXI concept to integrate leadership and human-relations programs. 1998 The Sergeant Major of the Army is court-martialed on five charges springing from the accusations of sexual harassment lodged against him.

He is acquitted of all sexual harassment charges but convicted of one charge of obstruction of justice. The Army’s top enlisted man, the Sergeant Major of the Army, SGM Gene McKinney, is charged with sexual harassment. McKinney will plead no guilty to charges of sexually harassing six servicewomen. In response to the incidents at Aberdeen, Congress orders its own commission—The Congressional Commission on Military Training and Gender-Related Issues—to review matters. Anita Blair of the Independent Women’s Forum serves as chair.
